The Founder

Oakbridge Systems was founded by Christos Tsiokos, PhD — a backend systems specialist with over 15 years of experience building distributed, real-time, and high-performance software.

Christos has led engineering initiatives across a range of industries and technical domains:

  • Cybersecurity — Technical leadership on a large-scale security analytics platform processing over one trillion events per day across 40,000+ node clusters, delivering multi-million dollar infrastructure savings through performance optimization.
  • Artificial Intelligence — Backend architecture for an AI platform's core data pipelines, including a novel distributed streaming service for real-time model serving.
  • Behavioral Analytics — Backend performance optimization for a SaaS analytics platform processing billions of user interactions for Fortune 500 clients.
  • Medical Devices — Embedded systems for FDA-regulated respiratory ventilators used in intensive care units.
  • Computer Vision — Fault-tolerant distributed systems for real-time facial recognition with sub-300ms latency requirements.

Technical Background

Christos holds a PhD and MS in Biomedical Engineering from UCLA, where his research focused on real-time signal processing and pattern detection in high-dimensional neural data — work that laid the foundation for his approach to streaming data systems and real-time analytics. He also holds dual bachelor's degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Biochemistry from UMass Amherst, graduating summa cum laude.

This combination of deep technical training, hands-on engineering experience, and work across multiple industries informs the perspective Oakbridge Systems brings to every engagement.

Philosophy

Backend systems should be designed for the real world — not just the happy path. That means thinking about what happens when things fail, when load spikes unexpectedly, when requirements change, and when the team that inherits the code isn't the team that wrote it.

Good architecture makes the simple things simple and the hard things possible. It's about finding the right level of complexity for the problem at hand — not over-engineering for hypothetical scale, but not cutting corners that create technical debt either.

Oakbridge Systems is focused on delivering practical solutions that work in production, with clear communication throughout the process.

Location

Oakbridge Systems is based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, working with clients remotely across the United States. On-site availability in the Northeast corridor can be arranged when projects require it.
